Das Gold im neuen Altgeist

3. Walhalla

Craving the power of the golden ring, the Rhine maidens are impelled into a rhythm of zeal and discontent as they strive to grasp it.  Their fervor consumes them, the mysterious power of the ring enthralls them, and they are unable to escape its grip.  With the gold they collect, they become as the gods and build a great city, Walhalla.

GOLDEN RING

A New Life

Who are these Rhine daughters? They have risen above the waters from which they were formed. No longer tied to their origins, they are leading a new life, independent and free. Their new life is in their faces, in their demeanor, and in their endeavors. Who are they?

The Kernel

She wants to feel good, to be a good person and be happy with herself. She seems intrigued by her ideas. Maybe she can improve the world, make the world a better place. The kernel grows.

R

It’s a variable. Every time she tries to define it, it changes into something else. The more it changes, the more she wants to know what it is, to use it in her formulas and get the answer.

Spellbound

The victim of the spell has embraced it, unaware of the dark shadow that now controls her. In her inability to escape its grip, she is now its slave. The golden glow has dimmed from her eyes, replaced by a fabricated radiance; the warm red that covered her in her birth has been driven away.

Infinity

It doesn’t add up. Her reasoning, self-confidence, and hard work should yield more than this. In fact, some of her results have even been negative! She remembers a legend about gold from the River Rhine that is infinite, gold that when added to nothing, is greater than everything. She grasps for the gold, but every time she looks at what is in her hand, it is the ring.

Human

She has lived through so many up and down human experiences, despairing times and joyful times. She has come to believe that all suffering and bliss lead to the same goal, taking her to new heights, uniting her in compassion and oneness with the human experience.

He Took It!

The Rhine maidens have not done their duty. Through their flirting with Black-Alberich, they have driven him to steal the gold from the River Rhine, forfeiting the treasure that was theirs to protect. Now they can either join in the curse of Alberich’s forged ring or wait for the return of the gold.

God Bless

She sooths the suffering of others by giving a part of herself. May God richly bless her for her kindness.

Analysis

Grains of sand compose the mighty banks of the Rhine. Their composition is complex, their number unfathomable, their beauty captivating. Let us analyze their structure, measure their number, and capture the essence of their glory. Understand the banks, and we will be ever closer to knowing the secrets of the waters.

Fortune

She is a talented Rhine daughter. Greatly gifted, beautiful, and prosperous. What a future she has!

Fragile Image

She is not happy with this tower either. She will tear it down again. It lacks vision. She needs a mason who can stack the gold better than this. Who can do this for her?

OR

“This stupid gold doesn’t work; it can’t even stand up to a little wind. I’ve got to make my own. Out of what, nothing, my own head, what do they expect?? Fie ‘pon the foul world!!”

Spellbound

The victim of the spell has embraced it, unaware of the dark shadow that now controls her. In her inability to escape its grip, she is now its slave. The golden glow has dimmed from her eyes, replaced by a fabricated radiance; the warm red that covered her in her birth has been driven away.

The Umbrella

It is becoming heavy. The umbrella she had used to shield herself from the light shower is now weighted down, a burden to carry around. Maybe it would have been better to get a little wet. Now all she can do is to continue carrying it.
