The Sound of the Tree through the Forms of the Veil

4.3 Origin

But the God of the creation and the real beginning is, at the same time, the God of the resurrection.  From the beginning, the world is placed in the sign of the resurrection of Christ from the dead.  Indeed, it is because we know of the resurrection that we know of God’s creation in the beginning.

 --D. Bonhoeffer, Creation and Fall

These paintings portray the veil as substrate for the creative word, and as the evening and morning of each day, the passion and resurrection of Him in whom God was pleased.

The dead Jesus Christ of Good Friday--and the resurrected Kurios (Lord) of Easter Sunday; that is creation out of nothing, creation from the beginning.

 --D. Bonhoeffer, Creation and Fall
